Dancing to live orchestra at Toronto Tango Summit
I took this photo last Friday at Roxana and Fabian’s annual Toronto Tango Summit. It reminds me of a magical moment when my partner and I reached that area in front of the stage and I felt as if the orchestra was playing just for the two of us. By that time Fabian was also sat with the orchestra, seemlessly jamming with the best of them.

It had been a spectacular evening in many ways but my highlight came around 11:30 p.m. when the excitement of the singing, folklore and tango performance acts was dying down and it was up to the dancers of Toronto (and environs) to create a new mood.

The floor had thinned out enough to make movement comfortable but full enough to make one feel part of a committed crowd. An orchestra of this calibre knows how to make the music totally danceable (not always the case with live tango) but keep the dynamism of unexpected surges of instruments and sound as we sashayed around the floor. Pure tango joy!
